ACCEPTANCE is a self-portrait that utilizes imagery as symbolism. In this painting, the earrings that are used include opal, a mineral thought to bring good fortune, and fidelity. This stone acts as a representation of my character, and the journey I have traveled to acceptance.

PROCESS

The canvas was built by crafting a wood frame and stretching canvas material over it.

I began this painting by applying a wash over the entire canvas using burnt umber. From there I began to map out where my features were and mixed my colors.
